Second notification of pre-planning application for the proposed new Velindre Cancer Centre
Second notification of pre-planning application
We are pleased to announce that Velindre NHS Trust will soon be submitting an outline planning application for the development of the new Velindre Cancer Centre on land to the north of Whitchurch Hospital Playing fields, Whitchurch, Cardiff.
The project comprises the new Velindre Cancer Centre including the Specialist Cancer Treatment Centre, Centre for Learning, Research and Development (combined maximum floorspace of 40,000 sq. m), primary means of access (from Coryton interchange), emergency access (via Hollybush Estate), temporary construction accesses, parking, energy centre, landscape works, pedestrian paths, and Maggie’s Centre.
The Town and Country Planning (Development Management Procedure) (Wales) (Amendment) Order 2016 now requires draft planning applications to be available for comments for a minimum period of 28 days prior to formal submission to the Council, although the usual planning consultation procedures will still be followed by the Council whilst determining the application.
A first notification period has already been undertaken as required by the above. The feedback received from consultees during this period was very valuable, and a number of important issues were raised. Velindre NHS Trust has therefore decided to undertake a second period of notification and further consultation prior to formally submitting the planning application. The draft planning application is therefore available again for any further comments between the 1st June and 30th June
All of the draft planning application documents are therefore available to download from this page of our website as set out below.
How to respond
Should you wish to make any comments on the proposed application please address them to:

Please note that individual responses will not be provided. However, a response to the key issues raised will be provided in the Pre-Application Consultation Report that will be included with the formal planning application submission to the Council.
